​La investigación, para mí, no se puede desvincular, primero, de las condiciones sociales y económicas que la posibilitan y, segundo, de la necesidad de gestionar espacios para colectivizar el conocimiento. De tal forma, en mis proyectos suelo combinar distintas formas de investigación con prácticas de gestión, pedagogías alternas, mediación de públicos, crítica y análisis institucional. Aquí, más que conocer desde el arte, pienso más ampliamente la estética como un lente a través del cual asumir de forma creativa y transformativa el desarrollo de conocimiento por medio de una responsabilidad de gestionar espacios, comunidades y redes que puedan sostener y potenciar aquello que se busca conocer y crear. 
 
Una estrecha red de apoyo mutuo e intercambio ha sido fundamental para mi crecimiento como investigadora desde la estética. La interdependencia, como parte de diversas comunidades artísticas, me ha permitido mantener una práctica dinámica y no comercial dentro de contextos precarios. Teniendo en cuenta una perspectiva crítica sobre la disminución de las condiciones de trabajo a través de la flexibilización (lo que Mark Fisher llamó la condición de “working from home, homing from work”): una definición resbaladiza de roles, límites borrosos entre el estado de amigos y colegas profesionales y prácticas de constante negociación y reajuste han sido, para bien y para mal, los pilares de mi desarrollo. Esta infraestructura ha evolucionado de ser las condiciones dentro de las cuales he tenido que trabajar, limitando, pero también catapultando mis métodos de investigación y acción, a ser el tema central de reflexión de mis proyectos individuales y colectivos.

Research for me cannot be disconnected, first, from the social and economic conditions that make it possible and second, from the need to open spaces to collectivize knowledge. Thus, in my projects I usually combine different forms of research with curatorial practices, alternative pedagogies, mediation of audiences, criticism and institutional analysis. Here, rather than researching about art, I think aesthetics more broadly as a lens through which to assume in a creative and transformative way the development of knowledge through a responsibility to articulate spaces, communities and networks that can sustain and enhance what we are seeking to know.
 
A close network of mutual support and knowledge sharing has been fundamental for my growth as an independent curator and researcher in the arts. Interdependence -as part of artistic communities in San Francisco, London and San José- has enabled me to maintain a dynamic and non-commercial practice within precarious contexts. Taking into account a critical perspective on the decreasing working conditions through flexibilization (what Mark Fisher called the “working from home, homing from work” condition): a slippery definition of roles, blurry boundaries between the status of friends and colleagues, and practices of ongoing negotiation and readjustment have been, for better and worse, the pillars of my development. This infrastructure, more and more, has evolved from being the conditions within which I have had to work with, limiting but also catapulting my curatorial and research methods, to be the subject of reflection of my projects.

direct Estado del Arte (a platform for statistical research and reflections on the macro conditions of contemporary visual arts in Costa Rica).
